Privacy Policy for Photo Styles

Welcome to Photo Styles ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"), developed and published by XMAKERS. Your privacy is not an afterthought — it is the fundamental architectural principle of our application.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Photo Styles on iOS and iPadOS devices.

1. The Core Architecture: 100% On-Device Processing

Photo Styles is built as an entirely on-device generative application:

  • Zero Photo Uploads: Your source photos, edited images, and restyled outputs are processed locally on your device utilizing the Apple Neural Engine (ANE) and GPU.
  • No Remote Servers for Inference: We do not operate cloud inference servers, image processing APIs, or remote storage for your photos.
  • No Biometric Identification: The App does not extract, collect, map, or store unique facial geometry, biometric signatures, or biometric identifiers. Any facial detection performed during cropping or framing is executed purely in volatile local RAM via standard Apple iOS system APIs (Vision Framework) and is discarded immediately after processing.

2. Information We Access and How It Is Handled

2.1 Photo Library & Camera Access

  • Camera: When you grant camera permission, the App accesses your camera solely to allow you to take a photo for immediate local restyling. Images captured in the App are kept in local temporary memory unless you choose to save them.
  • Photo Library (Read & Write): When you grant photo library access, the App allows you to select an existing photo for on-device processing, and to save generated artwork back to your Photos app.
  • Local Sandbox Storage: Generated photos and their generation parameters are stored solely within the App's private, sandboxed local storage on your device. You can permanently delete any saved artwork at any time directly within the App's Gallery.

2.2 Style Pack Downloads & Remote Configuration

  • To keep the initial App download small, generative AI style packs (Core ML model packages) and style catalog recipes are fetched on-demand from our Content Delivery Network (Cloudflare CDN).
  • When fetching models or configuration updates, standard technical network information is exchanged (e.g., your IP address, standard HTTP request headers, and device model type). This data is processed strictly to transmit the requested file and is not linked to your identity or your photos.
  • You have complete control over local storage: downloaded style packs can be deleted at any time through the in-app Settings.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of Photo Styles is monetized using third-party advertisements delivered by Google AdMob.

3.1 Information Collected by AdMob

Depending on your regional privacy settings and your response to Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, Google AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and process:

  • IP address and general approximate geographic location.
  • Device identifiers (such as Apple's Identifier for Advertisers — IDFA, provided you have granted tracking permission).
  • Diagnostic data regarding ad performance, clicks, and impressions.

3.2 Consent Management & Opt-Out

  • App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS 14.5 and later, we request your explicit permission before any advertising identifier is accessed. If you choose "Ask App not to Track", an anonymous, non-personalized advertising identifier is used.
  • GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Consent: In regions subject to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog is presented to allow you to manage or decline tracking cookies and ad personalization.

4. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions (Apple StoreKit 2)

Photo Styles offers optional in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions to remove advertisements ("Ad-Free") and unlock continuous advanced tuning controls.

  • Payment Processing: All purchases and subscription transactions are processed directly and securely by Apple Inc. through the App Store and StoreKit 2 framework.
  • Financial Information: We never receive, process, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or banking details.
  • Receipt Validation: The App verifies transaction entitlements locally on your device via Apple signed StoreKit transaction tokens.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We believe in radical data minimization. We do not use third-party user tracking SDKs or session recording tools (such as Facebook Pixel or AppsFlyer).

Anonymous crash logs and aggregated diagnostic metrics may be collected by Apple Inc. if you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in your iOS Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements).

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

Photo Styles is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because we do not collect personal accounts, email addresses, or photos, we do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Because your photos and generated art remain on your physical device:

  • You have full ownership and control over your content.
  • Deleting a photo from the in-app Gallery permanently erases it from the App's sandboxed storage.
  • Uninstalling the App immediately and permanently erases all downloaded AI models, sandboxed artwork, cached presets, and local settings.

8. International Data Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, and California Privacy Rights)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have legal rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access, rectify, or erase personal data held about you.
  • The right to restrict or object to certain types of processing (such as personalized advertising).
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time.
